Welcome back to our Sunday Snippet series! In this installment, I’m going to talk about the latest Disney World Quick Service Meal Offer. Now, if you’ve been following the blog you know I don’t think the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is worth it for my family. However, Disney just released a new deal besides the DDP so I wanted to know if it can save you money…
This new Quick Service Meal Offer is for vacations booked between now and June 1, 2019 at a Disney Moderate or Value Resort. In order to receive this deal, you need to purchase a non-discounted, 4-night stay package including a 5-day theme park ticket. Additionally, vacation arrival must be between May 28-August 21, 2019. This entitles you to receive one free quick service meal per person per night of your stay (ages 3+)! Each quick service meal includes 1 entree and 1 drink (including specialty and alcoholic beverages!) Sounds great, right?!
Well, I did a little math… I decided to compare deals for a typical Disney World vacation for a family of 4.
Criteria for a Family of 4 Disney World Vacation:
- 2 Adults and 2 Kids (ages 3+)
- Pool View at Port Orleans French Quarter (my new fave Moderate!)
- 5-day base theme park tickets
- No transportation or Disney Dining Plan (DDP)
- Vacation dates from May 29-June 2, 2019
Compared Disney World Vacation Offers:
The Disney World vacation offers I compared include the Summer Room Offer, a non-discounted package (in order to receive the free Quick Service Meal Offer), and the Kid-Sized Summer Vacation Package. Here are my results straight from the Walt Disney World website:
Cost of Quick Service Meals
I estimated that this family of 4 eating at Satu’li Canteen (my favorite Quick Service location) would spend $355.54 on quick service meals for the duration of their vacation (this includes the most expensive entree and drink options! See the end of this post for the math on this.). Thus, the Quick Service Meal Offer saves this family that amount from the non-discounted package price of $3,201.77. To compare the vacation package deals, it becomes fairly obvious that this Quick Service Meal Offer is not the best choice for this family of 4.
Final Vacation Totals Based on Each Offer:
- $3,073.53 total with the Summer Room Offer
- $2,846.23 total with the Quick Service Meal Offer
- $2,186.81 total with the Kid-Sized Summer Vacation Package
THE VERDICT!!
In conclusion, the Kid-Sized Summer Vacation Package will save an additional $659.42 compared to the cost of the Quick Service Meal Offer!! That’s a significant amount. Thus, for this family of 4, the Quick Service Meal Offer is definitely not worth it.
My advice is to always do the math to determine which vacation deal will save you the most money in the end!
Numbers don’t lie!
Cheers!!
