Hi all and welcome back to our final installment in the “best tips” series! Today we are going to share with you the absolute, #1 BEST tip when visiting Disney World! It’s going to be a short post, but one you DEFINITELY don’t want to miss. This can truly make or break your vacation at The World!
Before we get into it, don’t forget to visit our other best tips for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and the Disney World Resort Hotels! They are must reads before your next trip.
#1 Put Thought into Your Shoes!
That’s right folks, our #1 BEST tip of the best Disney World tips is to put a lot of thought into your shoes! If your feet are miserable, your entire body and mind are also miserable. So do your whole self a favor and really consider what you are going to wear on those feet!
It’s likely you will be walking more than average during your time in the theme parks. For instance, we once recorded 17 miles of walking in just one day! Therefore, you’ll want to make sure your feet are comfortable and supported.
I must share one of our stories with you… We decided to, during one fateful Disney World trip, primarily wear flip flops. As a result of all of that walking, we had more painful, swollen blisters that we could count! If you are one of those people that can wear flip flops with no issues, I salute you! Unfortunately, we just are not those people. Our only option for relief was to purchase some Mickey crocs and wear them with socks. Sneakers, or high quality walking shoes, just aren’t readily available in Disney World.
Additionally, another critical piece of shoe advice is to not wear brand new shoes to the parks! Make sure you give them a few months of wear and tear. Your feet will certainly thank you for breaking in those new “kicks” ahead of time.
The other thing you will want to consider is the rain. Anytime you are in Florida, you run the risk of getting caught in a passing storm! Sometimes the downpours are positively torrential, so your footwear is bound to get soaked. Definitely pack an extra pair of shoes (and plenty of socks), so you can rotate them!
If you anticipate blisters, be sure to pack some moleskin or an anti-friction stick. However, if you find yourself in a bind, we recommend checking out the park or Resort Hotel gift shops. Sometimes they carry those items! If you need new footwear, you may just find it in one of stores in Disney Springs.
Pro tip: This is actually from a Cast Member… if you are getting blisters from your shoes, the quickest, best remedy is to use a panty liner. They adhere to your shoes and have just enough padding to provide some relief!
