Off-Property Accommodations at Disney World

Hello everyone and welcome back to a brand new post! Today I’m going to finally write about the off-property accommodations we had during our last visit to Walt Disney World. This post will be about the accommodations themselves. I’ll talk about the amenities next week!

Storey Lake Resort

Although there are a few challenges to staying off-property, our family as a whole thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations at Storey Lake Resort! The benefits of staying just a few minutes away from The World included saving money and having extra space, home-like amenities, and free parking! And now, with the pandemic, we just feel more comfortable having an entire house to ourselves (as opposed to staying in a hotel).

Storey Lake is a vacation home destination with condos, townhomes, and full houses available for sale and to rent. We were very impressed with the complex. They have a strict no party policy (so you know it will be quiet at night). Also, the maintenance staff changes all filters (think refrigerator and air filters) after each guest. There is no daily housekeeping as in a hotel, but there were plenty of towels, sheets, and toiletries available. I liked that the toilets were all sealed after cleaning between each stay. That way you know everything is sparkling clean! Finally, the entire resort is gated at night for added security.

One thing that can be a bit confusing is that there are several companies and individuals who own and then rent out properties within the Storey Lake community. So, that means you can rent accommodations from a variety of owners. We recommend searching on Airbnb.com or vrbo.com for reputable rentals.

Townhome Rentals

Here’s a great video of a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom townhome in Storey Lake. This is not the one we stayed in.

The lovely townhome we rented was owned and managed by Deconova Vacation Homes and Suites. The house had 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a full sized kitchen, full sized washer and dryer, living room, and dining room. There was also a back patio with a small swimming pool (that can be heated during Floridian “winter” months).

The bedrooms in the off-property accommodations while visiting Disney World could not be beat. One of the best things of all was that the mattresses were MEMORY FOAM! If you’ve never slept on a memory foam mattress, you’re missing out. It is extremely comfortable and you don’t have to worry about bed bugs. Some of the provided pillows were also memory foam.

Location, location, location!

This may all sound great, but you may be wondering where Storey Lake is located in comparison to Disney World. Well, you need not worry because Storey Lake is only about a 15-20 minute drive to Magic Kingdom (the furthest park). We highly recommend using Google Maps each morning so that you end up taking the fastest route depending upon where you are going in The World. Additionally, Storey Lake Resort is also about 20 minutes to Sea World and 30 minutes to Universal Orlando.

Disney World property is highlighted in green and the Storey Lake Resort is in yellow. Only about a 20 minute drive to and from!

Overall Impressions

Storey Lake off-property accommodations are an excellent choice when vacationing near Disney World. They have condos, townhomes, and houses available for rent that can serve any sized group! The resort is located in close proximity to the major theme parks to maximize your family vacation fun! We highly recommend trying out these accommodations during your next visit to The World!

Tune in next week as we talk about the additional amenities offered at this resort!

Until next time… Cheers!!
