Important Updates to Disney World Reopening

Hi all and welcome back to another post on KatDoesDisney about the Disney World reopening! So far, there are a few hiccups with the social distancing policies at The World. Thus, let’s talk about the important updates to the Disney World reopening plan!

#1 Masks

One of the biggest changes has to do with masks. Guests must wear a mask that has ear loops and fits snuggly under the chin and on the cheeks. This means popular neck gaiters are no longer acceptable. Additionally, masks with valves or holes are not allowed. Here is Disney’s official statement:

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

  • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
  • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

#2 Mask Etiquette

Another one of the important updates after the Disney World reopening has to do with mask etiquette. Regarding mask etiquette, guests are no longer allowed to pull their masks down while walking around the parks to eat or drink. Now, guests must remain stationary and socially distanced to enjoy a Disney snack or drink!

#3 Resort Hotels

Disney just announced that they will be postponing the opening of some of their resort hotels. Here is Disney’s official timeline:

In addition, we currently plan to open the following Disney Resort hotels to booked Guests on the following dates. Please note that the reopening dates have been revised for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

August 24Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
September 21Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
October 4Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
October 14Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
November 1Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

While reopening dates were previously shared for Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, these Disney Resort hotels will remain closed until further notice, as the reopening timeline continues to be reevaluated.

What do you think of these updates to Disney World after reopening? Tell me in the comments below!

Until next week… Cheers!!
