How to Enjoy Disney at Home

Hello and welcome back to KatDoesDisney!! If you’re practicing social distancing, in quarantine, under stay-at-home orders, or had your vacation plans cancelled, you’re likely looking for some Disney magic! In order to help cope with this difficult time, we are trying to recreate our favorite Disney vacation moments inside. Today, I’m going to share with you how to enjoy Disney at home!!

Watch POV Videos of your Favorite Rides

Long before the COVID-19 pandemic began, we watched our favorite Disney attractions on YouTube. It’s a great way to enjoy some Disney Parks magic right from your couch! Some channels even feature video of the parades and shows. The key is to find high-quality videos from vloggers that have a steady hand. I, personally, turn to SoCal Attractions 360. Another favorite of mine is AllEars.net! They aren’t strictly POV videos, but Molly does a great job of showing you around the parks!

Listen to the Parks Music

I adore listening to the Disney Theme Park soundtracks! It is a great way to relax, put up your feet, and envision being in the parks. I found a wonderful YouTube channel, Disney Theme Park Audio (DTP Audio), that has nice selection of great soundtracks from around the globe. They even have the holiday season tunes!

Run a Virtual RunDisney Race

This is a great time to brush up on your running skills (or lack thereof!). Getting some fresh air outside does a body and mind good! Disney is actually hosting virtual runDisney events. Right now, you can register for the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon ($59 USD registration fee). The 13.1 mile marathon can be completed outside, on a treadmill inside, in one day, or even over multiple days! You just need to reach the virtual finish line by March 31st.

Watch Disney+

For the time being, we’ve thrown the recommended 2 hours of daily screen time out of the window. Disney+ is on and enjoyed by everyone in my household. If you’re looking specifically for Disney Parks content, check out The Imagineering Story, Disney Insider, or One Day at Disney. You can also watch popular movies such as Frozen 2, Star Wars saga, and, coming soon, Onward (4/3/20)!

If you’re not sure about a full subscription to Disney+, there is a 7-day free trial. Additionally, new Verizon Fios members can receive a free, 1 year subscription to Disney+!

Oh! And while you’re watching, you’ll need some popcorn, right? Alton Brown recently released a great video on how to make fresh popcorn, no bag needed. Go ahead… raid that pantry and snack away!
