Welcome back to KatDoesDisney! There are many benefits to staying at a Disney World Resort hotel and Extra Magic Hours happens to be one of them. In today’s post, we will discuss the ins and outs of Disney Extra Magic Hours so you can maximize your time in the parks. Enjoy!
What are Extra Magic Hours?
Guests staying at the Disney World Resort hotels get to enjoy extended time in the theme parks. Each day, one park is scheduled to open early or close late beyond the normal operating hours. During these Extra Magic Hours, select attractions are operating for on-property guests to enjoy! Just keep in mind not every attraction will be open!
To see the Extra Magic Hours schedule, check out the day’s times guide or check with the Disney World Resort hotel front desk for a printed copy!
How to Use Extra Magic Hours
It is very simple to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. All that is needed is a valid Disney World theme park ticket and, of course, a reservation at a Disney World Resort hotel! So, be sure to have your MagicBand or resort ID on hand! There are Walt Disney World Official hotels that participate in Extra Magic Hours. They include:
- Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
- Shades of Green Resort
- Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels
- Four Seasons Resort Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
- Waldorf Astoria Orlando
“Extra” Extra Magic Hours
From now until November 2, 2019, Disney World has “Extra” Extra Magic Hours! Now that’s a lot of “extras!” These extended hours are available every day. The schedule is:
The park, including Pandora- The World of Avatar, will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM daily.
Magic Kingdom favorites, including Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, will welcome guests 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM daily.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, and the rest of the park will be operating beginning at 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM every day!
Are They Worth It?
So, are Extra Magic Hours worth it? The short answer is, it depends. Nothing is ever truly simple when it comes to Disney World crowds! It may seem logical to visit the park that has extended hours each day, right? However, Extra Magic Hours may attract larger than normal crowds to that particular park for the day.
We are early birds and tend to take advantage of the early morning extended hours. In my personal experience, there were only a couple of instances where that park had higher than average crowds for the day. In those cases, we just simply Park Hopped to a different location!
Before kids, my husband and I always took advantage of evening Extra Magic Hours. The wait times were never too long and we enjoyed strolling around the Park at night!
Overall, I am a fan of Extra Magic Hours! They are a really nice perk to staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. However, I strongly suggest coming up with a plan of attack by putting together your own vacation itinerary. In other words, be sure couple the morning or evening Extra Magic Hour offerings with FastPass+ reservations during the day. That way, you experience as much as you can with as little of a wait as possible!
